Cosmological bounce and the cosmological constant problem

چکیده
We discuss how the modifications of standard Einstein’s equations needed to support cosmological bounce can at same time lead vanishing well known constant problem, while also studying effects spacetime fluctuations. first concentrate on case classical Friedmann–Lemaître–Robertson–Walker (FLRW) and show that in a bouncing cosmology, where modification Einstein–Hilbert action be represented by most general function bounce, problem is absent if this late times approaches sufficiently large value. result does not depend details bounce. Therefore, cosmologies could potentially solve singularity constant. Motivated recent studies context fluctuations metric, we then generalize our study incorporate some problems earlier proposals, like singularities negative values scale factor, are naturally resolved approach proposed here.

3 Cosmological Constant Problem
The cosmological constant problem is reviewed and a possible quantum gravity resolution is proposed. A space satellite Eötvös experiment for zero-point vacuum energy is proposed to see whether Casimir vacuum energy falls in a gravitational field at the same rate as ordinary matter. 1 Cosmological Constant Problem • It is generally agreed that the cosmological constant problem (CCP) is one of th...
متن کاملBack Reaction of Cosmological Perturbations and the Cosmological Constant Problem
The presence of cosmological fluctuations influences the background cosmology in which the perturbations evolve. This back-reaction arises as a second order effect in the cosmological perturbation expansion. The effect is cumulative in the sense that all fluctuation modes contribute to the change in the background geometry, and as a consequence the back-reaction effect can be large even if the ...
متن کاملOn the Cosmological Constant Problem
We prove that Weyl invariant theories of gravity possess a remarkable property which, under very general assumptions, explains the stability of flat space-time. We show explicitly how conformal invariance is broken spontaneously by the vacuum expectation value of an unphysical scalar field; this process induces general relativity as an effective long distance limit. We show that all ghost degre...
متن کاملThe cosmological constant problem and quintessence
I briefly review the cosmological constant problem and the issue of dark energy (or quintessence). Within the framework of quantum field theory, the vacuum expectation value of the energy momentum tensor formally diverges as k. A cutoff at the Planck or electroweak scale leads to a cosmological constant which is, respectively, 10 or 10 times larger than the observed value, Λ/8πG ≃ 10 GeV. The a...
متن کاملSpacetime Fluctuations and the Cosmological Constant Problem
Spacetime geometry is treated as a fluctuating, stochastic quantum system allowing an effective quantum gravity solution to the cosmological constant problem. A Fokker-Planck equation for the probability density of spacetime metric fluctuations is solved for an FRW universe and the most probable value for the metric scale factor R is for a very small cosmological constant. e-mail: [email protected]...
